Tulum is an ideal place to spend holidays with the family. In just one day you can explore fascinating ruins and then relax at the beaches. The archaeological site was a major Mayan trading port and astronomical observatory, and the nearby beaches are among the most beautiful of the Mayan Riviera. You can rent a boat at the Beach Club to see the ruins and take pictures.

Your kids will have the chance to learn the culture and the importance of ecosystems, all with lots of fun. The Federal Highway Cancun-Chetumal is the main avenue across the city of Tulum, where you can find the best shops and restaurants. The “Mayan zone” area keeps the ancient language and traditions, mixing the national cuisine with old Mayan recipes. The best option to visit these places with your family is to rent a car.

If you are intrepid, spend a special day visiting the cenotes. Children will enjoy swimming and doing snorkel in these unique pools. Let them explore the caves, with creaking bats flittering all round. Equipment can be rented at the site.

You can also rent a car or a hire a tour to visit one of the hundreds of Mayan villages, where you will get to know more about their history, lifestyle and cuisine. You won´t regret it!

Another interesting tour is to Cozumel Island. You have to take a bus or taxi to Playa del Carmen, and then a ferry to Cozumel. Do not miss the Museum Island Cozumel. You will see a typical Mayan house and expositions on the history and environment of the island. The lighthouse in Punta Sur beach is the best place to amaze your kids with stories of pirates.

If you find it a bit stressful, you can hire a babysitter from Sitters of the Caribbean to accompany the family and help to care for the children.
